In February, 44,000 apps were available on Windows Store and now it’s more than 100,000 apps for Windows 8 users. On July 7th, 2013, MetroScore has recorded 101,585 apps. The announcement of smaller Windows 8 or Windows RT tablets is one thing that encourages developers to create applications and submitted them to the official Microsoft Store. In addition, there is a hope that Windows 8.1 will be better than Windows 8.

Unlike classic desktop apps, Windows 8 apps run in full screen mode on Windows 8 devices. After installed, an app will show a new tile on Windows 8 Start screen as shortcut to run the app. Certain tiles can show latest information though user don’t use the app at that time.

Developers can create Windows 8 applications with some programming languages including JavaScript, C#, or C++. A developer will get 80% of revenue if he has reached at least $25,000. According to Microsoft, the revenue sharing for developers is bigger than those offered by Apple or Google.
