Lenovo Announces New Ideapad Y and Z Series Laptops

At CES 2014 event held in Las Vegas, Lenovo announced some new products including new laptops besides multimode PCs and convertibles.

IdeaPad Y40 and Y50 gaming laptop replaces IdeaPad Y410 and Y510 respectively. The new 14-inch Y series offers powerful specs, but it also lightweight, only weighing at 4 pounds. The bigger 15.6-inch Y50 weighs starting at 4.7 lbs for non-touch screen models and 5.7 lbs for touch screen models. However, you will get bigger display and higher display resolution options. Besdies Full HD (1920 x 1080), it's also available in QHD (3840 x 2160). Y40's display resolution is up to Full HD only. Another different between those two products is graphics card used. The Y40 is equipped with AMD GPU, while the Y50 has Nvidia GeForce inside. Other specs are similar including up to 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 1TB HDD or 512GB SSD, and up to 16GB of RAM. Both laptops are expected to be released around May 2014, starting at $1,000 per unit.

In Z series, Lenovo introduces Z40 and Z50. The Z series laptops are more affordable than Y series, providing good performance and affordable pricing. The new laptops will replace Z400 and Z500 series. Comes standard with HD (1366 x 768) display, Lenovo also offers Full HD option. They will have up to 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of HDD with optional 8GB SSD cache. For more graphics peformance, there will be optional Nvidia 840M discrete-class graphics card. Expected release date is around March, with prices as low as $600.
