List of Macs/MacBooks Compatible With OS X 10.9 Mavericks

Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks logo

Apple Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks has been announced officially as the successor of Mountain Lion.

Not all Macs will get the update. As it requires Mac App Store to download Mavericks, you should run at least on Mac OS X 10.6.7 Snow Leopard or later, that's below Mountain Lion which needs Mac OS X 10.6.8.

Like Mountain Lion, Macs that support Mavericks are 64-bit Intel-based Macs.

List of Apple Macs compatible with Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

  • iMac: mid 2007 or later
  • Mac Mini: early 2009 or later
  • Mac Pro: early 2008 or later
  • xServe: early 2009
  • MacBook Pro 13-inch: mid 2009 or later

  • MacBook Pro 17-inch: late 2007 or later

All plastic MacBooks before 2008 won't get Mavericks update, as well as the pre mid 2007 Mac Mini or iMac and MacBook Pros and aldo the original MacBook Air.
Macs with ATI Radeon X1600 or Intel GMA 950 or x3100 won't able to run Mavericks.

All of the information based on OS X 10.9 Developer Preview and may change when it released for public.
