Intel: Laptop with Haswell Chip Has 50 Percent Longer Battery Life

Currently Intel is getting ready to launch their latest line of processors with code name Haswell, which will be launched in the early of next month. According to Rani Borkar, Vice President of Corporate Architecture Group at Intel, Haswell chip is very focused on battery life. The work time of laptop battery with Haswell is 50 percent better than a laptop with Ivy Bridge processors, as Haswell is designed focus on portable devices.

Longer lasting battery power of the chip will have no effect on performance, although Intel is focus on lower power consumption for the fourth-generation Core lineup. In standby mode this chip has better performance, claimed by Borkar it's 20 times better.

For tablet use, tablets with Haswell seems to have the same battery life like other tablets, but Intel claims performance will be great. Some efforts are made to save power like using power management chip unit and a collection of voltage regulators. It's expected that Haswell tablet will survive for 10 hours.
